Q+A with Catherine | Wedding Photography

HEY LOVEBIRDS! This post is for you. I’ve comprised a list of my top asked questions – along with some that maybe you didn’t even know to ask. Either way, here is a bunch of really fantastic info about myself and the weddings I capture.

  1. What is your preferred style of photography?  Traditional, Natural Light, Artistic, Photojournalism, Colorful
  2. How many weddings have you shot in your career? 20+ as well as 2nd shooting for other photographers
  3. How many weddings will you shoot on my wedding day? Yours and yours only. When you book me, I do not book any other work for the entire day.
  4. Have you ever shot at my venue? If I haven’t, I typically will do a scout of the venue and shooting locations at least 2 weeks before the wedding date.
  5. Do you bring your own lighting? Absolutely! While I utilize natural daylight as much as possible, I will also bring a flash for darker lighting scenarios.
  6. Do you work from a shot list? Yes, and I like to plan out my shots with the bride in the pre-planning process. Not only does this help me, but it helps us to determine the timeline for your wedding day.
  7. Can I request certain images are taken at the wedding? You sure can. I do my best to accommodate as photo requests.
  8. How many hours are included in your package? I have four primary wedding packages. They start out at 5 hours of coverage and end at unlimited hours of coverage. I can help you decide how much time is needed.
  9. How much does an additional hour of coverage cost? If you decide to add coverage it is rated at $200/hr. If you decide two weeks or less from your wedding date, this rate becomes $400/hr. I highly recommend choosing the appropriate amount of coverage when first booking my services.
  10. Do you bring a second photographer? With the exception of my first wedding package, all other packages include two photographers. I prefer to photograph all weddings with two photographers as it allows for all special moments being captured.
  11. How many images can I expect to see from my wedding? I do not guarantee a set amount of images. The number of images shot at your wedding is based on the amount of hours, activates and the number of guests. As a guideline, you can expect approx. 30-45 images per hour of service that you contract. If you have two photographers the number increases to approx. 50-60 images per hour of services.
  12. Do you have a limit to the amount of images you will edit? Nope!
  13. How long does it take to see the proofs from my wedding? Typically, you can expect to see your images 4-6 weeks after your wedding date.
  14. Do I receive a disc of images, or do I have to order all prints through you? All weddings come with an online, password-protected gallery. In this gallery, you have the ability to download digital copies of all of your files. With most of the packages you will also receive a USB drive. Although I offer professional printing services at a competitive price, I also allow you to print on your own.
  15. How much are prints? Depending on the size of print, my prices range from $2-$29/print
  16. Is an album included? With packages 3 & 4, a 12x12 wedding album is included. With the 4th package you will also receive a duplicate 12x12 parent album. Albums are also available for purchase a la carte in the gallery shop.
  17. Will you use my images in any advertising? It is possible! I love sharing beautiful weddings on all of my social media platforms – facebook, Instagram, and my blog. If you wish not to have your images shared, please let me know before signing your contract.
  18. Will you request the photography guidelines from the ceremony and reception locations? It is the responsibility of the bride & groom to contact your venues, church, and shooting locations to verify any photography restrictions. I am not responsible for photos missed due to these regulations.
  19. What will you and your second shooter wear? Think business casual. We dress up for your big day, but need to be comfortable and flexible while documenting your wedding. If you require a specific dress code, just let me know.
  20. What is your plan if you are ill or there is an emergency and you can’t photograph my wedding? In the event of illness or an emergency my second photographer will become the main photographer for the event. A replacement second photographer will be found.
  21. How much is the deposit? In order to secure your wedding date, a 50% non-refundable reservation is due. This payment is made at the signing of your contract.
  22. When is the balance due? The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding date.
  23. What is your cancellation policy? The 50% reservation fee is non-refundable.
